Spreading poetic love for National Poetry Month!
April 2026 marks the 30th annual National Poetry Month, which was established by the Academy of American Poets in 1996 to celebrate poetry's vital place in culture. 💕
Check out my poem, Make me Ignorant. For the times when you are/were "stupid" for love. 💔
Make me Ignorant
You make me ignorant.
And I should be ashamed,
And should know better
Than to let a man
Like you
Run circles
Around me.
But I do.
With no regrets.
I let you do what you please
All to please me.
I let you take control,
Knowing your direction
Is not clear,
But I don’t care.
You make me ignorant.
Ignorant
To what my heart desires
And what I need
To be complete--
In union with no confusion,
In lust with no sin.
I surrender,
Simply to have you
And enjoy you.
I stop thinking,
Because my mind is
Steering me away from you,
And I can’t have that.
It’s not that I like it,
I just can’t help it.
My mind wonders
And I wonder
If one day
We can be one
And I think that it is so,
And I start to believe it
And I feel it,
And then I remember...
I don’t know any better.
Can’t go on what I think
Or believe to be true,
You make me ignorant.
