Why Love?

“Feeling Poetic” contains love poetry—deep and emotional love poetry. Comments I often receive from readers are, “the poems are too emotional” and “why are all the poems about love?” First, all of the poems are not about love. I do have poems that are about friendship and encouragement; as a matter of fact, one of the sections in the book is titled Feeling Encouraged. But, the majority of the poems are about love.

I love to write about love, be it in love or out of love. After reading some of my poems, I am moved at how deep and emotional they are, so I can definitely understand why some people react a certain way to my poems. Sometimes, we are in the mood to deal with our feelings, and the right book, movie, or poem, can really help during that time. But other times, maybe not. There are moments when the last thing you want to hear about is love, the joy or the heartbreak.

I published “Feeling Poetic” for those moments when people do want to read about love, the joy of being in love, wanting someone, the frustration when love doesn’t go how we planned, and the pain when you lose a relationship that you really wanted to work. I’ve received positive feedback from those that have wanted to deal with these feelings, and read “Feeling Poetic.” I’ve had plenty tell me that they could really relate to certain poems.

So…to answer the question, why love? Why not? It’s a part of life, and for some, it is as natural as breathing.
